It is with great excitement that, on behalf of all the students and staff at Halfmoon Bay Elementary, I am sharing with you, the news that the installation of our new playground on our grounds has been completed!
Our PAC began fundraising over 4 years ago. Through generous community donations and grants we were able to purchase a climbing structure for our students to enjoy. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude and acknowledge the following organizations for their generosity:

- Sunshine Coast Credit Union
- Sunshine Coast Community Foundation
- SCRD Rural Grant in Aid
- Halfmoon Bay Student Council
- Halfmoon Bay PAC
- Halfmoon Bay-Chatelech Community School Association
- Halfmoon Bay Elementary
- And many other donors
In addition, this structure will be accessible as we received a very generous matching grant from Tire Stewardship BC (TSBC) which allowed us to have the rubber groundcover installed. Without this funding, we would not have been able to reach our goal.
Under normal circumstances, we would have had a public Opening Ceremony at the school. However, with the strict protocols that we have in place to keep our students and staff safe during this COVID pandemic, we did not have a public celebration. However, we wanted to inform everyone of the completion of this project.
